It has good corrosion resistance, excellent weldability, good cold workability, and moderate strength. The main alloying element of the 5XXX series is magnesium, which has good formability, corrosion resistance, weldability, and moderate strength. It is used to manufacture aircraft fuel tanks, fuel lines, sheet metal parts for vehicles and ships, instrument and street light brackets and rivets, hardware products, and electrical appliance housings. ③ AL-Mn alloys are the most widely used type of rust-resistant aluminum. This alloy has high strength, especially fatigue strength; high plasticity and corrosion resistance; it cannot be strengthened by heat treatment; its plasticity is good during semi-cold work hardening, but low during cold work hardening; it has good corrosion resistance, good weldability, poor machinability, and can be polished. Its main applications are for low-load parts that require high plasticity and good weldability and operate in liquid or gaseous media, such as fuel tanks, gasoline or lubricating oil conduits, various liquid containers, and other small-load parts made by deep drawing; the wire is used to make rivets.
