Ship decks, hull structures, pressure vessels, LNG cryogenic equipment, seawater environment equipment frames, and large welded structural plates.
5083 is a high-magnesium corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy and a marine-grade material. It has excellent strength, corrosion resistance and weldability, resists corrosion well in seawater and damp environments and performs strongly under low-temperature conditions.
It cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, so there is no T651 temper. Welded joints retain their strength well, so it is often used for large structures with high welding quality requirements.
It suits ship decks, hull structures, pressure vessels, LNG cryogenic equipment, equipment frames for seawater environments and large welded structural plates. It is not recommended for linear module bases or other load-bearing substrates that need heavy-allowance CNC milling and long-term micron-level dimensional stability.
