5A06 is a Chinese high-magnesium corrosion-resistant aluminum alloy with outstanding strength, low-temperature toughness and weldability and good resistance to seawater corrosion. Its welded joints perform well, which suits welded structures with high reliability requirements.

It cannot be strengthened by heat treatment, so there is no T651 temper, and it keeps good overall performance after welding.

It suits aerospace welded components, LNG cryogenic storage tanks, fuel and hydraulic tanks, heavy vehicle welded structures, deep-sea equipment and pressure vessels. It is not recommended for linear module bases, as heavy-allowance CNC cutting tends to cause stress spring-back, making micron-level datum accuracy hard to hold over time.
